Air fryer conversion calculator

Convert an oven recipe for your air fryer — or back again — using your brand’s own published rule. Nine brands’ rules, every manual linked.

Updated · How we source our numbers

In short

Brands publish different rules. Ninja US says 25 °F lower (UK and Australia 10 °C); Instant says 20 °C lower and 20–25% less time. Cosori says 25–50 °F lower and 20% less time. Most brands publish no rule — check food early.

What each brand says

There is no government or industry standard for converting oven recipes to an air fryer. We checked official manuals and brand websites for more than 35 brands sold in the US, UK, Canada and Australia (30 October 2026). Nine rules exist — and they don’t agree:

No published rule: these brands give no figure for converting oven recipes.

Hamilton Beach and Oster give rules only for their ovens’ convection setting, not air frying.

Two notes on the numbers. Cosori’s documents don’t fully agree, so we show the manuals’ range:

Cuisinart’s AIR-200C booklet prints “[-3.8°C to 10°C]” beside 25–50 °F; as a temperature difference that is really about 14–28 °C, which is what the calculator uses. Converting from air fryer back to oven runs each rule backwards — that part is our arithmetic.

Timing and safety

Time rules exist for only some brands, and only for their own machines. Whatever the brand, start checking early: basket size and how full it is change everything. For meat and poultry, cook to a safe internal temperature — see the roasting calculator for USDA’s minimums. Baking in a fan or convection oven instead? Use the oven temperature converter.

Conversion by brand

How do I convert an oven recipe to an air fryer?
Use your brand's own rule. Ninja's US manuals say 25°F lower; its UK and Australian manuals say 10°C lower. Instant says 20°C lower and 20–25% less time. Cosori says 25–50°F lower and 20% less time. Cuisinart says 25–50°F lower. Check the food early whichever you use.
How much should I reduce the cooking time?
Only some brands give a time rule. Instant: 20–25% less (50% less for frozen food at the same temperature). Cosori: 20% less. Ninja’s air fry oven: 30% less on Air Roast. Kalorik: 5–10 minutes faster. Ninja’s basket fryers and Cuisinart give no time rule; Cuisinart says to start checking 5–10 minutes before the end.
What if my brand isn't listed?
We checked official manuals and websites for more than 35 brands. Philips (apart from packaged foods), Tefal, Tower, Salter, Gourmia, Chefman, GoWISE, Dash, Nuwave, Breville, Kmart Anko, Sunbeam and others publish no rule for oven recipes. Choose 'Another brand' to compare every published rule, and follow your manual if it says otherwise.
Why does Ninja give two different rules?
Ninja's US manuals say reduce by 25°F (about 14°C); its UK (AF300UK) and Australian (AF300ANZ) manuals say reduce by 10°C (18°F). They're different documents for different markets, so the calculator lets you pick yours.
